Education
Education at City Gallery Wellington aims to inspire students to engage with and respond to contemporary visual arts. We provide students with unique, challenging, memorable, enjoyable, hands-on learning experiences within a stimulating and welcoming environment and we take an enquiry-based approach to learning, encouraging the development of student visual literacy, critical and creative thinking skills.
Our programmes support the New Zealand Curriculum with a focus on Visual and Māori Arts, Key Competencies and aim to:
• Develop creative, critical and analytical thinking skills
• Encourage open questioning, discussion and debate
• Enable experimentation with art making techniques and processes
• Facilitate the development of ideas knowledge and understanding
City Gallery Wellington Education Programmes are supported by the Ministry of Education’s Learning Experiences Outside the Classroom initiative (LEOTC).
